For me, nothing moves me like 'Mezzanine' does - beautiful memories of wandering through cities and suburbia at the break of dawn, alone, not quite there in my head, with that song playing loudly in my ears. "All these half-floors will lead to mine" reminds me that not everything is black and white, but everything is connected, everything will make sense, in the end. Also: "Why don't you close your eyes and reinvent me?" OH. Just perfect.

Butterfly Caught is special to me, too: love, even in the darkest moments of night. "Shh - under your feet." Small, unexpected moments of radiance and peace. Life is beautiful, and that song is a good reminder of that fact.

Yeah, better things is really amazing... I mean, every song on Protection is really something. Oh, when I just remember Nicolette's and Tracy Thorn's vocals, I mean - woooow, absolutely amazing...

I always thought, that E.B.T.G. is one of the most underrated bands that ever walked the face of planet Earth. by the way, Protection is another big fav. those lyrics...

Hmm, so many to choose from.

Eurochild - absolute classic song with great lyrics. Reminds me of moving into my first house as I had Protection on when I was sorting things out on the first day.

Safe From Harm - brings back memories of when I first heard MA. First song and the first album. I was hooked from then on.

Teardrop - again, fond memories of being at Uni and chilling in the park on a summers day!

"Unfinished Sympathy" holds deep meaning for me because it reflects on many times in my past in which I longed for a girl but never got the chance to express how I felt. I think the whole idea of something being out of one's grasp has never been communicated more effectively than with "Unfinished Sympathy". In fact, I dug the song so much that I did an art piece based on it. Simply put, "US" is one of the best songs ever made.

it's been awhile since anyone replied to this thread but i read all the replies and have been thinking a couple of days about what song(s) i would choose. i guess the primary reason why i love this band so much is that i feel like they make sense--no matter the mood, circumstances, geography, company, their songs simply make sense to me. but with this question in mind i choose...

1) Paradise Circus: so obsessed with this, it's so gorgeous. the beat, hope's voice and the strings give me chills. whether it's sunny or snowy, this song is the perfect soundtrack.

2) Dissolved Girl: a perfect mesh of so many genres all wrapped up in one song, and the lyrics are stunning (You are not my savior but I still don't go). Inhale, exhale.

3) Angel: this is my strutting song, a la "Staying Alive" at the beginning of Saturday Night Fever. The song's not about me of course but when it's on my ipod, it's about me.
