its pretty good, took a few listenings, think it is beter than 100th window, has some fantastic brooding beats, think it could be a classic in years to come., there is a few tracks that ruin it for me and sound a little like demos ie the track with that guy from elbow

I am soooooooo looking forward to touch Heligoland, especially that one of the new songs is called "Dobro" which means "goodness" in my language - polish. I live in London 4 the past 4 years, 1,5 year ago I went to see u guys in my mother country, it was a very meaningful night...wont go into the story, but imagine how i felt when i found out that the song I totally fell in love with is called "goodness" and in my own language.... Your music has always been an inspiration 4 me, videos... I just feel like I'm connected 2 u guys, that we feel & think the same. Oh and the united Snakes video, I think that u just got into my head and made the video out of my drawings! haha:))) amazing.. I wish one day I could meet u guys and just talk:)

Hmm. It's a bit odd. `heligoland' is the first MA record that I'm consciously awaiting and yet yet yet. Since the first word I gathered about a possible new record SOON in 2004 (or was it 2005?) I have been naively heading blindly in extravagant expectations regarding this new record. With the coming of "Live With Me" I knew they were still able to do magic, the first times I saw them came in that same year. I was amazed by 2008's new songs, excited about Meltdown, disappointed alot of these new songs were dropped until 2009's newer songs slammed head-first into me. Yet somehow to be disappointed again by missings tracks like Heartcliff Star and bizarre choices on some of the existing songs.. some of the magic seems a bit lost in transition.. to the point that I fear this will be the first record without much drive, much fantasy. I hope this will not become one of those records with fivish good songs and a bunch of throw-away tracks. Something I didn't hold Massive to be capable of for a long time.

I have waited like...7 years for this? Hope it's as good as 100th window, all their previous works were masterpieces, too bad they record so rarely...but it's finally here!

With each new album, comes a certain change to MA. New beats, new styles, voices, a new sound. Every single album is like a whole other side of music. I'm just curious how Massive Attack will sound this time. But, given the tune of Harpsichord, and it's revival as Paradise Circus, I'm guessing the album will be like nothing anyone's ever heard before. Powerful and striking as always. Waiting for the next EP to come out, too. Cheers.

Amazingly beautiful album - it's just come out in Australia today (Feb. 5th). It's been a while since 100th Window, but the wait has been worth it. Deep, moving, a development in style, yet with elements reminiscent of previous albums. Wonderful!

been with you since the first release (on Vinyl of course) and so happy that you guys are back. Due Switzerland a four and visit us for one of your concerts. The gig at the Openair St. Gallen was a big happening.

I grew up on Massive Attack. I remember 'borrowing' my brother's copy of Blue Lines when I was younger. Only recently did I have the chance to see them live, and it was the best gig I've ever been to. Going by the new songs they played on tour, this album will be awesome!! Can't wait :D

They do revolution combining music and technology and have also my respect because of their politic vision.

I have all their music and saw them playing live at the hollywood bowl in los angeles few years ago, simply amazing.

I’m afraid the new album can only disappoint me – nothing can top the experience of getting to know their music for the first time – but still, those few songs I’ve heard from ‘Heligoland’ have already showed that Massive Attack is continuing to be the most outstanding musical phenomenon in my universe.

I've been to Heligoland. It's wonderful and moody. I know that the new recording will reflect the wonder and mood that Massive Attack has produced in the past. Here's to the future.

I have been listening to and thoroughly enjoying your music for many years now, and with each album a new facet of talent and exploration is unveiled. Blue Lines saw the raw, melodic qualities of your music and broke into the mainstream for all the right reasons. Protection ushered in a more tranquil yet mysterious edge of Massive Attack that would come into prevalence more so in my undisputed favourite album of all time, Mezzanine - the darkness and earthy feel was present throughout the album and brought a new meaning to the genre. As the big Daddy G took a break for personal reasons it was up to Robert with a little help from his friends to create 100th Window which culminated into a truly magnificent and beautiful sounding album that truly had the urban, underground undertones resonating throughout. Not to mention of course the Danny the Dog OST that focused on a more instrumental sound that was masterfully incorporated into the motion picture.

And now in 2010, the long awaited Heligoland is set to be released. I am so incredibly excited to own this album that will undoubtedly see another revelation in a music world that has over the years become drab and corporate. Seeing the band live in Brixton Academy, London late last year introduced me to much of the new material that is set to be officially released and also remixed by the likes of none other than Burial - who I'm sure will add his own superb spin to the music. My favourite songs of the moment being Girl I Love You (16 Seeter) and Atlas Air (Marakesh) which I am chuffed are making appearances on the album. I hope Red Light sees a future release as it was so beautifully performed live, as well as the acoustic mix of Teardrop that had the whole audience in complete awe.

Your music has been so influential and pertinent throughout my youth and I have been fortunate to understand it more thoroughly as I grow. A genre that has perhaps been overlooked by modern society, trip-hop with its subtle and almost rudimentary nature deserves much praise for being so in touch with everything urban and real in our world - and Massive Attack for spearheading the genre and constantly raising the bar for the rest of the industry.

I am only 20 so I look forward to constantly appreciating new aspects of your material, new and old, through forthcoming periods of my life, and I strongly believe Heligoland will be no exception to the success story that is Massive Attack. Keep taking your time to make your music as it truly pays off, the intensity and hard work of its production evident in each and every song. It would be great to win in the competition but of course I am buying the album regardless, so just to say thanks for all you have created and shared with us - you are legends.

I discovered Massive Attack many years ago, when a mate of mine passed on a VCR recording of "Just a Matter of Time." With each subsequent release -- Blue Lines through to the present -- the albums and singles have marked the passage of years, providing my personal soundtrack to modern life. Each release has so beautifully and so deeply captured its moment, that every track has lasting power for me, and I imagine that just as I will devour Heligoland, I will still turn back to tracks like "Hymn of the Big Wheel," "Lately," and "Better Things."

I've loved massive attack for as long as I can remember (thanks to my Dad), can't wait to find out what the legends that are Massive Attack have created this time. Massive is music at its finest, it is truly something else. If Paradise Circus is anything to go by, this album will be incredible!

Waiting with baited breath for this new album and am in seventh heaven now that I have heard that Massive Attack are playing a concert in New Zealand shortly, I never thought I would get the opportunity to see these guys.

I saw Collected as being a bit of a stopgap, to buy Massive Attack a few more years to go about making their next opus which would turn out to be this album Heligoland. Still don't understand the name yet and the cover art is a bit scary to me, but the music hits me right were it should, both in my own mind and soul, like all the other great Massive Attack albums going back to Blue Lines. It was 1991.. the Gulf War. I liked a group called Massive.. they made me bare new meaning and emotions in hearing music.. I was 15.

Now I'm 34, almost 20 years with the music of Massive Attack, a soundtrack of my life actually.. the World has changed, I became older, but that meaning and those emotions keep on living with me..

Massive Attack's new album sounds incredible! I can't wait until I can sit back and listen to the whole thing through.

Have already listened to clips off Heligoland and imo its on par with MA's best albums. Also was lucky enough to see the show in Vienna in Nov (I think) - was excellent. I hope they'll be back soon.

It's been a long time coming, but I'm certain it will be worth the wait. Seeing MA on tour a couple of times during the intervening years has whetted my appetite even more.

Sooo nice to hear Daddy G's voice again! Wish "All I Want" had made it on the new record, since I love when the guitars come in on that one. I've been such a fan from Blue Lines on, collecting every single shred of their music and remixes. Though Mezzanine stands as the high point for me, I'm fascinated by the chances they take with each album. Bring on Heligoland... and let the rest of the world catch up!

Heligoland have a special meaning for danish people. It means both "end of the world", a vey desolate, rough and lonely place, but also it's the name of an old faclility where people can bathe all year round...kind of a beach-house with saunas. With this i n mind I look forward to hear the new album ;-)

A new Massive Attack album is as eagerly anticipated here as a new baby! But now, the teasers I've heard will make the next couple of weeks wait almost unbearable!

So my girlfriend and I went to see MA live last year and it was awesome - got to see my favourite band, hear them play great new songs and all that with someone who sang along as much as me. Doesn't get much better than that :D Unless I get a prize here, that is :D

I feel like a Massive Attack's songs..they reflect my disquiet but also my heart.
About 'Heligoland' i like very much "pray for rain"..if i close my eyes it seems to be under a summer storm and when the rain comes..it comes the peace.

Massive Attack, I hang by your every word. "Heligoland" is already rocking my world but I feel greedy, I want to hear it constantly. Your music speaks to me so deeply that I am flying to London next month (from NYC) just so I can see you perform, I truly cannot wait.

No longer anticipating, but been heavily listening to the leaked promo since last Saturday!

Like many fans, I had been anticipating the new album since Collected was released in 2006 (I got the double CD/DVD version - loved it). Been checking various sites every now and then, downloaded a bootleg concert a few months ago to check out new songs, was very excited when the EP came out (loved tracks 1 and 2, less keen on 3 and 4) and went to see Massive in Paris back in November.

Then, the only highlight of 2010 so far, I learn that the album will be out Feb 8th and that I - if brave enough - can listen to a leaked version of the album...

Very happy - some great new tracks (and I really like the album version of Psyche). Only conundrum, is whether to pre-order or wait to see if a 2 CD version comes out (and there's rumoured to be a Burial remix like Mad Professor's No Protection). Ah sod it, I'm going to pre-order now :)

BTW I agree with too many of the comments below to cite one in particular; lastly listened to Blue Lines a lot when it came out without getting too hooked, discovered Protection well after its release after moving to France, bought Mezzanine day it came out and went ballistic. Been quite obsessive since then :) I even like 100th Window!

I just love Massive Attack for they hit my mood so perfectly as often I play them. I relax everytime I hear unfinished sympathy but still empowered. It is hard to describe but with this music I often feel relaxed and pushed at the same time. Any way I just love it and I'm looking forward to the new album!

It has a minimalist quality, acid and interesting than most bands do not have and that quality in their albums are always distinguish them.
Massive attack once again makes this album worthwhile.

Last night I actually dreamed that I got the album in the mail. That's crazy... And awesome at the same time... Cause I enjoy hyping things up, it's like my own little Christmas eve, except every five or seven years. Heligoland is going to be amazing for sure, and the wait is pretty cool too ;-)

I have never had a problem with the length of time Massive Attack need to create a new record. I never let memory become nostalgia where music is concerned. I try to stay loyal as with a friend who I don't see that often. I laugh and joke about the old times, imagine a new landscape, where new memories are formed when we meet again.

MA is the fuel... Can't live without their beats, heavy bass lines, inventive samples and truly inspiring lyrics, performed by greatest voice out there (except Guy Garvey).

Will definitely be one of the first to buy this long waited album...

THE NEED of another master piece (cause we all know, they never fail!) and then, by the middle of 09 two shoking news: massive attack is gonna play a gig in my city 4 the first time and the new album is getting ready 2 come out! and few months leater, OFICIAL: MA GIG GDL/MX 20/02/10 & MA new album 09/02/10!!! not even fuckind deaming about it!!!! since that moment my life will be divided by two eras: before february 10 and after february 10...

Massive attack is my music of choice to listen to right before I create my own music. I'm a beat junky and all the drums in all the songs are just on point. They also show how expansive and inventive music can be. Big up to Massive Attack and I can't wait for the new album!

Massive Attack are greatly known for the perfection and detail that goes into the recording and producing of an album, studying music technology it is incredibly interesting. Besides that, 100th Window and Mezzanine have bin the soundtrack to very fond times of my life, and I'm certain Heligoland will be the same.

Massive Attack, the band that comes from the heaven to my ears like an "Angel", and which will come back again with this exciting sound >> "Heligoland".

I've been waiting for a new Massive Attack album (like we all have!) for ages, and what I've heard so far is great. Cannae wait for this one.

The album sounds alright judging by what has been performed live and what's leaked on the web but songs like Harpsichord, All I Want, Kingpin or Red Light would've stood really good in there. I must say those tracks missing dissapoints me a lot. Maybe Massive Attack decided they should have more "new" material on the album and that was the reason not to include those.. Nevertheless, it's a good thing to have them back :)

Wow I actually forgot Harpsichord's on there. The new version is so different! I really liked the old one a lot lot more.

there's no any company in our country, no single company that would be involved in the spread of the album, and for international orders - a bank card required, which I do not have, and with my modest prosperity is unlikely to ever be ...

how much am i anticipating this album? well, that's unmeasurable really. can't wait to get the real deal in my possession. snippets, soundbytes and live steaming are all well and good but to have an actual disc in hand is priceless.

Tho I want to point out that this album is quite different from the other MA's, tho in a positive way (at least for me). I was suprised to hear their new songs in the HMH in Amsterdam some months ago. The audience wasn't that great tho, but the show was so intense that I didn't care for them too much. The new songs (especially Girl I Love You, Atlas Air) were just great.
They made me feel... stoned immaculate ^^.

I was introduced to their back way back in 1991 when i still was in high school. A friends oldest brother was studying in England at the time and brought Blue Lines with him during the holidays. i was blown away!
They are my best band ever since then, seen them live many times (in Athens as well as Paris this november which was on my bday!) and can't wait for the new album.

Its been a long seven years leading up to LP5 or Heligoland as it is now called, and during that time I caught them live for the first time hearing the new material in 2008 and 2009. In conclusion, I've been waiting for this material to surface for ages, and now its finally happening. Exciting times, indeed.

Ever since I stumbled upon a Massive Attack CD in my fathers collection I was hooked.

I listen to this during all the day, and I'm never being fed up with it.

Unlike most of these commenters, I haven't been a fan for years or seen them live or excitedly waited for a release. What I have done, is listened to a kid daydream and blabber all day about being on the same level as this band since he idolises them to a point I'll just never understand. So, randomly let me win so I can send him the prizes and give his life some meaning. Do it for the children.

Being an aspiring trip-hop artist myself, Massive Attack has really influenced me greatly. This album (from what I've heard so far) will really help me a lot with my music. I would love to have my very own copy of Heligoland. (:

I love their deep dark and addictive sound. It's hard to pin-point what exactly draws me to them, but whatever it is didn't let go after 7 years of waiting. All of their albums are amazing. Mezzanine is a monumental album, and the new album will most likely end up being my favourite album of 2010, it's that good!

Well I can't wait to hear this. I was a bit unsure after hearing Splitting The Atom EP, but seeing them live on this tour proved they still have it. Hopefully we'll get to hear this soon.

Sounds great, I'll be buying it regardless but this is a really great competition, especially for lurkers like me! good job Richard.

I saw them Live in Portugal last year, still one of the best live acts ever.

What can I say... Massive Attack is my air... the earth beneath my feet... my universe...

MA have been a favorite of mine since I came upon Mezzanine in middle school. To date itès the only record Iève ever owned more than one copy of (long story). Here's hoping the new one is a return to form.

Next to Radiohead, Massive attack is one of my favourite bands of all time. And Mezzanine is definitely one of the best (if not the best) albums of the nineties. I have already heard Heligoland and in my personal opinion it's a very interesting, fresh album from MA. I'm looking forward to seeing them live in Poland :)

well, maybe i'm not a huge fan of theirs compared to others, who really have a lot of stuff from them (like Richard). cds, articles, cover magazines and others stuff like that. but if i could collect any of that, i surely would. but in romania, where massive attack are not that populat, it's impossible to do it, as music stores only sell popular music!

the first song of theirs that i heard was teardrop. i wasn't very sure about it, but i really liked it. it was very different from anything i'd listened before. so i searched the internet for more songs and the one who made me fall in love with them forever was risingson! i love that song soo, but so much! since february 2008, when i listened to them for the first time, until now, i'm really in love with them!

when they came to romania in august 2008, i was very sad 'cause i couldn't go to the afterparty. but the concert was brilliant!

i'm very excited about heligoland, and i really want the album! and even if i win or not, i'll buy it anyway. because i need it! and my birthday is february 6th. so... i'll be extremly happy if i'll be one of the winners of this competition.

Can't wait to finally listen to this, it seems like the wait has been forever, even if I only discovered this band a couple of years ago. With all of the great guest vocalists on display, this album is going to be an excellent one, I can feel it. The wait isn't much longer!

With 4 LP's in, they have quicky became one of my favorite bands. Ever. Now, with the first fully original LP to antecipate since I've become an official fan (and seen them live, and all that), I really can't wait to get my hands on Heligoland. :)

Heligoland is easily one of my most, if not the most, anticipated albums of the year. Granted, I'm even more excited for some US tour dates. Ready to travel all over if need be. I envy you Europeans and the wonderful music scene!

Ohh I already preordered it and for me this is going to be the highlight 2010. I dont know massive that long, but they always fascinated me^^ Even though I normally listen to progressive rock, they have become one of my favourits! 1 Month to go folks!

This album is about my soul this cold winter and I guess it's a masterpiece that will be remembered. Big thanks go out to Robert Del Naja as being one of the most influencial people on my thoughts and feelings for the last 10 years!

Well, I discovered Massive Attack about 3 years ago, i went to their live in Paris, and i find them incredible! From what I hear from the radio tracks from heligoland, I can say that this album is just like MA: "surpramazing" ! ^^
